Kanakadas Shikshana Samiti The Kanakadas Shikshana Samiti is a pioneer institution that proudly bears the name of the great saint, universal philosopher, and renowned poet Kanakadasa. It is the visionary initiative and brainchild of our beloved President, Dr. B. F. Dandin, who was a respected Professor of Statistics and Mathematics, an outstanding educationist, and a committed social reformer.
Dr. B. F. Dandin dedicated his entire life to the growth and development of this institution since its inception. His relentless efforts and educational service have played a vital role in shaping the academic and social progress of countless students, especially those from rural and underprivileged backgrounds.
In recognition of his exceptional contribution to education, Karnatak University, Dharwad, conferred upon him the honorary Doctorate Degree in the year 2011. His yeoman service also earned him several prestigious recognitions, including the Seva Ratna Award from H.H. Naganur Mutt, Belagavi. More recently, he was honored with the esteemed Karnataka Rajyotsava Award by the Government of Karnataka on 11.11.2020 at Bengaluru.
With a compassionate vision to provide food and shelter to poor and deserving students, Dr. B. F. Dandin established “Kanakadas Prasad Nilaya” in Gadag in the year 1965. This hostel became a life-changing institution for many economically disadvantaged students, offering them an opportunity to pursue education with dignity and support.
In 1968, when many students were being deprived of school admissions, he took a remarkable step by starting a high school. His educational mission then expanded into rural areas through the establishment of high schools in places such as Timmapur, Tuppadakurahatti, Mulagund, Naregal, Gajendragada, Holealur, and Lakkundi, thereby catering to the educational needs of students in remote and underserved regions.
